It's good to see a business going the extra mile in these corner-cutting times.

Dear Colin,
Foxe's Book of Martyrs has now landed at my place! Thank you for the excellent service! Have looked up your web site also, and was most impressed. The only site on the map I have heard of before was the Isle of Thanet, and that was through my interest in electric tramways. Thank you. Regards, Andrew.

Dear Colin,

Thank you for applying the discount - it's kind of you. My comments are positive because you make exceptional efforts in respect of customer service, and I say this advisedly, as I buy up a lot of books on-line, and I find standards (see even in so basic a matter as answering an e-mail of preliminary enquiry for an advertised book) very variable, in the UK, USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. I have contacted 97 different booksellers since Jan 1st this year, and you are in the top five for speedy reply, straightforward dealing, consistent quality of photos and overall ease of transaction. When browsing ABE and other search listings, if I see that you and competitors are listing much the same book, I would, all things being equal, every time buy from you, even if your copy were a bit dearer. That said, you must have the patience of old Job himself, because I am well aware that there are many, many time-wasting, troublesome customers out there...

I would be most interested in the article. I had no notion of Alan or a Salome Hocking (Salome Hocking - a wonderful name!). I wonder whether she was a dancer... I will take care of it and send it back ASAP.

Cheers - Andrew Bell

Splendid packaging; a truly fine / fine brodarted book. Magnificent.

After a week in which half the books that have arrived were more G/G than F/F, you've restored my faith in English booksellers.

I shall despatch the cheque to you first thing tomorrow morning by First Class post.

Thank you for the excellent customer service.

Dear Colin,

I'm forwarding you a message from a buyer of yours.

I have just finished opening my new old book The German Shepherd Dog. I am VERY impressed with your professional manner.

The book was packaged very nicely so that it did not get damaged at all on this very wet and soggy Chicago day. Our postal service left the box outside by our door so we our happy that it also did not get stolen.

We will definitely use your service again and we will forward your name to others. Respectfully, Ivy

Colin, .

I have just unpacked the books and they are indeed superb! And thank you for the most careful packaging, it is truly appreciated.

In looking through your catalog, I see two other Bates titles which I somehow overlooked on my search through the ABE website. They are numbers 45 and 48, Sugar for the Horse and The Distant Horns of Summer. (Am I correct that "Distant Horns" is a story collection?) Please let me know if these are also still available.

Thanks again,

Mr Button:

I received the Joyce Lankester Brisley anthology today. Thank you! It is in beautiful condition, exactly as it was described, and you did a marvelous job of packaging and shipping! I have to say, I had only one other experience with buying via the Internet from a shop in the UK, and it was somewhat negative, in that watermarks on the edges of the pages was not mentioned in the description or in the email correspondence and it was just sent in a mailer, so the top corners were bumped when I received it. I will definitely be going through your catalog to see if there is anything else I am interested in, because you are obviously an honest bookseller!

Received the Rain Goddess today and I am most happy with the book. It is far better condition than I had imagined it would be. Thanks for the catalogue, while I have not fully read it, I have quickly glanced through it. Must say most of the books listed I do not recognize, except Deighton and Forsyth. Will examine it closely in the near future.

If I come across any other titles that interest me will let you know. Thanks for help and assistance in this matter.

Dear Mr. Button,

I have ordered dozens of books through ABE and their ilk over the last three years. No big deal in itself...

But rarely does a book described "as new" by it's vendor actually match that rarified condition! This book does; and the care with which you packaged it and the exactitude of your description should be a lesson to online book dealers everywhere on HOW TO DO IT RIGHT!

I hope to have the opportunity of dealing with your company again in the future.

Thank you, and have a Happy New Year,
