Fawsley Hall Original Architectural Drawings

Fawsley Hall and landscape park was created by the Knightley family. Richard Knightley, a well-to-do Staffordshire lawyer, bought the manor of Fawsley in 1416. His grandson Richard, knighted by Henry VII, built the first wing of the present house. 6 original architecture drawings from Fawsley Hall on hand made wove paper 'J. Whatman, Turkey Mill, 1880 and 1883' watermarks. Comprising: Small colour plan circa 1840 14½'' x 10¼''. Large colour plan 1880 22½'' x 15¼'' copied by H. Dryden (Sir Henry Dryden) 1883 from a plan by him in 1857 and SIGNED H. Dryden, with tears to the edges. Large single colour plan of the fire place 1883 22½'' x 15¼'' SIGNED H. Dryden, with minor tears to the edges. Monochrome portrait front elevation drawing of the turreted octagonal glass keep 15¼'' x 22½'' SIGNED W. S. 1884 from H. D. 1883. Monochrome close up detail front elevation drawing of the top of the turreted octagonal glass keep 15¼'' x 22½'' showing coat of arms SIGNED W. S. 1884 from H. D. 1883. Small single colour detail of the coat of arms 9'' x 6'' with tear across the top. Drawn to various scales with imperial dimensions.
