First edition hard back binding in publisher's original scarlet cloth covers, gilt title, author lettering and elaborate gilt designs to the spine, all page edges gilt, marble paper end papers. 4to 10½'' x 7¼''. Contains tissue-guarded colour frontispiece; [viii]; 322 + i printed pages of French text with 214 monochrome engravings throughout. Bookplate inside from 'High School of Dundee' dated 1892, light marks to the boards and in very near Fine condition, probably never opened. Member of the P.B.F.A.
