The Hunter Society is the local archaeological society and is named after the antiquarian Joseph Hunter who wrote about Sheffield's history in the early 19th century, Leslie Armstrong undertook the first excavations at the castle site for the Society in the 1920s. Contains pp 273-369 with monochrome illustrations and archive photographs, some folding. From the Leslie Armstrong Memorial Collection, University of Sheffield with relevant bookplate inside the front cover, stamp to the front cover, hand written volume details to the spine, old sello shadow line to the inside front gutter, else in Very Good condition.
