Hard back binding rebound in quarter tawny brown calf, the spine divided into six panels, part of morocco and gilt labels to the first and third, soft brown suede sides, new hand made paper cream end sheets, marble end papers, radial corners. 16mo. 6¾'' x 4½''. On 5 November 1804 Gawler changed his name to Ker Bellenden, but continued to sign his name as Bellenden Ker until his death. He was an unsuccessful claimant to the Roxburghe dukedom. His son was the legal reformer Charles Henry Bellenden Ker. Contains (v), errata leaf, 304 pp. Foxing to the title, else in Very Good condition Member of the P.B.F.A.
