Aesop is said to have been a Phrygian slave who lived around 570 B.C. Edward J. Detmold, who was born in 1883, was one of England's greatest book illustrators and with his twin brother Charles Maurice were drawing the animals in Regents Park Zoo and the Natural History Museum and at the age of 13 were the youngest artists ever to exhibit their work at the Royal Academy Contains 174 printed pages.
