Gibbon Williams, Andrew [William Patrick Roberts RA (5 June 1895-20 January 1980) was a British artist]. Squadron Leader John Eric Tipton DFC* (1918-2018) British officer served as a navigator with 40 Squadron, RAF in Great Britain and Malta, 1941-1942; served with 109 Squadron, Pathfinder Force, RAF in Great Britain, 1943-1944; served as Oboe (British aerial blind bombing system in World War II, based on radio transponder technology), ground controller in Netherlands, 1944-1945.

In the years before the First World War Roberts was a pioneer, among English artists, in his use of abstract images, in later years he described his approach as that of an 'English Cubist'. In the First World War he served as a gunner on the Western Front, and in 1918 became an official war artist. Contains 152 printed pages of text with monochrome and colour illustrations and some photographs throughout. Fine condition book in Fine condition dust wrapper. Loosely inserted is an 11 page typed letter titled 'Sarah and John Roberts - The Years After Bobby - Recollections of a friend' by Marion Hutton (Secretary of William Roberts Society) concerning William Roberts and his life, also one double page A4 letter from Wiliam Roberts Society signed by Marion Hutton, one colour related bookmark. From the private library of John Tipton, a resident of Tenby, and SIGNED by him to the front free end paper 'John Tipton - 2005'. John Tipton joined 109 Squadron in June 1943 and went on to complete 70 operations with the squadron through to 1945. He also completed 34 Operations with 40 Squadron in 1941/1942 operating from RAF Wyton and Malta. Dust wrapper supplied in archive acetate film protection. Member of the P.B.F.A. ISBN 0853318247
