Three volume set : Comedies; Tragedies and Histories. pp xxxii, 602; 570; 488, cxxii, xvi glossary. Illustrated engravings on wood from designs by Kenny Meadows are plentiful and complement wonderfully to the readability of the set. Extensive and scholarly notations, biographies and essays on the works in addition to a copy of Shakespeare's Will, and the most famous of the verses on Shakespeare including Milton's own first printed work. Fine quill name dated 1869 to the tip of each title page, light surface rubs to the corners and spine edges, gilt design to spines worn, paper clean and white with the odd spot to a couple of plates. A beautiful and impressive set. Member of the P.B.F.A.

Summers, Montague [Introduction and Notes by Augustus Montague Summers (10 April 1880 - 10 August 1948) was an English author and clergyman. He is known primarily for his scholarly work on the English drama of the 17th century, as well as for his idiosyncratic studies on witches, vampires, and werewolves, in all of which he professed to believe. He was responsible for the first English translation, published in 1928, of the notorious 15th-century witch hunter's manual, the Malleus Maleficarum].
