Uniform matching hard back binding twelve volumes: eight on Japan, four on China in publisher's original three quarter Pakistan green morocco leather, lovely blue and gilt patterned sides, the spine divided into six panels, lettered in gilt to the second and fourth, tools to the others, top edges gilt, others untrimmed, rarely seen gold nugget patterned end papers over light creamy brown paper. 8vo. 9½'' x 6½''. Hand written in red number 376 of 500 Limited Edition copies. Contains red and black printed title leaves with captioned tissue-guarded colour frontispiece to each volume, colour and black and white photographs with tissue-guards and plentiful black and white plates and drawings throughout, large colour fold out map of Japan at end of Volume VI, large colour fold out map of China at end of Volume XII. Fine condition books, in original and rare Good condition dust wrappers with dark navy legible lettering to the spines, oriental motif on centre front panels, small nicks to some edges.
