The Dover Games were started during the reign of Charles 1st by Robert Dover, on what is known as Dover's Hill. The verses on the Dover Games are by Drayton, Randall, Wallington, Cole, Ben Johnson, Thomas Heywood and other Elizabethan and Jacobean poets. Contains facsimile of 1636 frontispiece and title pages, 2 pp facsimile of a 1819 poster of a Dover's Meeting with wrestling and other sports, also dancing prizes and horse racing, then a facsimile of the 1878 edition. 85 pp. Fine condition book in Fine condition dust wrapper with tiny rubs to the tips, not price clipped, £2. 2s.
