Hard back binding in later bound dark green cloth covered boards, blocked and lettered gilt back, pale lemon lining papers, red speckled page edges. 8vo. 8½'' x 7''. First appearance in book form of The Owl and the Pussycat. Contains numerous monochrome illustrations throughout. Rear end paper cracked, boards slightly bowed with signs of damp stains to the edges. Ink message to the half title 'This book belonged to the artist Anna Margaret Carr (1791-1872) and was given her by her sister's (Sarah Grace Lushington), youngest daughter.' Message above in a different hand and fountain ink colour 'For Dear Aunt Anna (Carr | added), From John and Edith (Nom's | added) Christmas 1870.' Member of the P.B.F.A.
